The future of journalism in the world of social media
The drug called social media that we all addicted to..........
| The world of social media |
Is social media a word of mouth on drugs that journalists feel
like they have been side-lined and pushed out in their own comfortable
industry. Well the answer is yes journalists are very invisible and very
much not needed by public relations practitioners the digital age has swallowed
and chewed journalism. Many may say it is not dead but merely just adapting to
this new drug called social media.
Public relations
practitioners no longer have to rely on journalist as they can convey their own
public relations campaigns through social networks to get through their target audience. Journalists nowadays depend on social media to receive
and distribute news and that questions their value of credibility like a
Citizen journalist that only relied on tweets when
making reference for a story.

| social media has arrived |
We need social media more than journalists as this opens doors for
public relations companies to interact with other PR companies and
to share ideas. Not a lot of people go and buy newspaper or have the time to
watch news all the time and wait for the time when news will eventually appear
on television, and boom social media comes to the rescuer. I mean social media
is conversational for example the recent #SONA2015 debate was on fire on
tweeter buzzing like a bee am sure journalists had little to write about
on news.
The fun that comes with social media

Indeed social media has taken over our lives we are really addicted to it
ReplyDeleteeverything we do in this day an age is surrounded by social media...
DeleteGood Blog and interesting topic, but i still think we need them so that they can us to reach the other masses of people which social media cant reach, for example we still need for Television news
DeleteBut social media is the rescuer of public relations practitioners in making their job easier instead of them nagging journalists for stories and news.In anyway companies come to us for publicity and if they want to be known.
DeleteSocial media is indeed taking over, but does Social media give is suffient news as to what is taking place globally rather than journalists example online news where does that information come from , think about that .
ReplyDeleteSamke online news is part of social media since it is an internet based tool that helps us to get news fast and quick. Now a days journalists themselves get news from social networks so answering your question yes the news we get from social networks or social media is way more than enough and straight to the point.
DeleteA brief definition of social media please?
ReplyDeleteSocial media is the future of communication basically internet tools and platforms that unable us to have a two way communication....
DeleteI agree with you when you say that Public Relations Practitioners don't need journalists anymore. I think that with Social media, we can get any information that we need, and most important, it is easier to interact with our public.
ReplyDeleteyes we are our own journalists we can engage with our own audiences without the help of qualified journalists.
Deletenothing but the truth
ReplyDeleteAm glad you think so cause honestly journalists are so overrated.
DeleteAs much as we are our own journalist, we still need journalist because they have a much bigger audience than an ordinary person who has a few followers on social media
ReplyDeletejournalists are becoming less important there are so many outlets and different social media channels that we as public relations practitioners can use to reach our target audience, without the help of journalists.
DeleteThat's the power of social media, it seem like traditional such as newspapers will end up been used. Technology has influenced people to rely on it much as compared to traditional media, we now get news easily anytime and where ever we are using our smartphones, tablets and laptops.
ReplyDeleteYes and that is basically my point that journalists are slowly becoming extinct.
